Aerae's music is shaped by the organic and unpredictable forces of the natural world. In the hands of the rising French artist, techno, downtempo and drum & bass are molded into unrecognizable forms, where evolving textures lock into enveloping and ritualistic grooves.

With a process guided by intuition and ephemeral impulses, each of Aerae's projects has a distinct sonic signature, but Percussive Reverie, her debut album for Norway’s Annulled Music, marks an evolution in her sound. Across the project, she picks apart broken drum & bass rhythms, crafting tripped-out workouts of miles-deep dub atmospheres punctured by lithe percussion. In similar form, “Conscientiae”, released on Stagno Records' Tres compilation, finds her sound at its most elemental—its deep, downtempo grooves emerging from a humid, primordial ooze and swaths of reverb.

In her DJ sets, Aerae weaves threads of techno, dnb, and more at their most tribal and hypnotic, building sets around the sensations of “passing through different states, different sensations, and encounters.” She describes her sets in terms of physical spaces, atmospheres and the characters inhabiting them, creating fleeting scenes where time becomes elastic and malleable, leaving listeners in a state of elevated delirium. Her unique approach has taken her to renowned clubs and festivals across Europe, and with more releases and mixes on the horizon, it's safe to say the psychedelic pulse of Aerae's sound will continue to bring more under its influence.
